Mengelola Aspirasi Sosial-Digital Masyarakat Indonesia
sebagai Instrumen Perubahan Sosial
Indro Adinugroho. “Managing the Society’s Digital Social
Aspiration as an Instrument for Social Change.”
One of the greatest historical events in the Indonesian political
system is the May 1998 tragedy or popularly called “reformasi”. The
primary purpose of this movement based on words of mouth (WOM) and
underground discussion that involved student and political activists as
well as the military was toppling the New Order regime down. Eighteen
years have passed since the 1998, but we still need more various
attempts to bring democracy out in every aspect in our “national life”. In
the era of technology, massive street demonstration is not an effective
activity to bring democracy out. We need another alternative activity
which is more effective and effi cient to voice our needs and interests.
I give the alternative method the name of social-digital aspiration,
which refers to various conversations in the social media. Social-digital
aspiration is becoming the psychological data that could be analyzed
by psychologists and behavioral scientists as a representation of
the psychological condition of the public. Finally, from social-digital
aspiration, social and behavioral scientists could examine the progress
of democratic situation in Indonesia. Why is this extremely important?
Nowadays, social movement is moving into a new direction, where
people voluntarily give their psychological data to the public through the
digital media. Psychologists and behavioral scientists need to take a
look further on this issue due to its function as monitoring data.
